Thing #3 Enough Experimenting Already

In the 4 Cs article, it said experimenting is a key component to having fun with this social networking tool called blogging (don't you just love how the name evolved!)...but I think 3 templates and scads of color and font changes over the last few days IS enough experimenting...and of course, as usual, I went back to the tried and true (and comfortable like old shoes) template...just couldn't break out of my mold too much (side effects of living in a soggy bog?)

But don't you love the picture in the banner!!
Well, I guess you'd love it if you can see it...here... I will include a picture of the picture because it probably won't show in district...and if it does, won't that be a pleasant surprise!

As far as the Avatar is concerned, it's like playing virtual paper dolls isn't it...of course, there are probably only about three of us out there that even remember paper dolls. But anyway, it is is fun and frustrating all at the same time...making choices and then not having ENOUGH choices or the ability to add all the extras that would REALLY explain who I am on the inside! But everything that is there, is a piece of me.

I do wish my Avatar would move like it does on the website...have tried to read up on why it does not, but can't find anything...anybody have any ideas?

I guess I am an information artisan...making it my "own!"

ok, bring on the comments!...remember, comments are a key feature!!!

See ya later,

Thing #2 Being a Life-long Learner

I don't think I really understood the term "life-long learner" until my recent past. I always loved school...hated to miss...afraid of what I might miss! I just thought that was the way things were for me.
After moving from the classroom to the library about 30 years ago, I quickly realized that to do what needed to be done in the library, I would have to learn and learn and learn...it was an exciting time that I was privileged to experience...I always dreamed of being a pioneer...and in my own way, I am...my frontier has been the digital and virtual world...and it has been exciting.

And my mom cemented my realization of life-long learning when during one of my visits home I was showing her all the stuff I had been doing with Microsoft Powerpoint and she exclaimed, "do you ever stop...you are always learning! I think it was the light-bulb moment for me.

As for the 7.5 Habits of Successful Life-long Learners, #7 Teach /mentor others is absolutely the easiest for me. Showing someone else how to do something and helping them to learn something new is a basic instinct for me...I do not remember ever not wanting to do it...playing school with neighbors and friends was merely the beginning. Runners talk about the endorphins from a good race...I have the same sensation when someone walks away knowing something I helped them achieve...because it usually means I learned it too! I live to learn, I learn to "live."

That being said, the hardest habit for me is #4 Having enough confidence in myself to be an effective, successful learner. I have worked hard to overcome my shortcomings as I see them. I'm not perfect yet, but I have made lots of progress based on practice, practice, practice (I think I hear a groan coming my own children's corner!) and some very fortunate circumstances of chance over the years that have put me in the right place at the right time to have excellent role models and mentors who support(ed) all my efforts. A long time ago, I pledged to pay these opportunities forward when and where I could. I hope I have.

Until later,
